By coincidence, the Reuters news organization was also running Windows XP and the program that was installed on the infected computer was originally designed for Windows XP.

The malware is spread by sending emails to a computer that has been infected with the problem. So if you run a malicious program on a computer, you will be sending emails to that computer. The problem is that the computer that is running the malicious program is not the computer that has been infected. It’s the computer that was infected with the malware, so the computer that has been infected is the one that has been sending the emails.
