Well, you can argue that if it is a good game, it will sell, and that makes the success of it seem like a good thing. But then you say something like, “But what if they don’t sell?” In all likelihood, that argument is exactly why games like this get made. Because there is less of a risk that a game will become a commercial failure, so the more success a game has, the more likely it is to be a success.

The danger in this argument is that if a developer makes a game for a platform they know their audience can’t possibly get to, then there is a really big chance that the game they make might be something that they never get to, and there is a real risk that they will fail to make a game that people actually want. This is why game studios make games they know they can’t possibly make.

I’m not saying that game studios can’t make games. I’m saying that they should only make games they know they can make.
